What can I make with the Bajji Bonda Mix?

Street-style bajji (vegetable fritters such as onion, potato, raw banana or chilli bajji) and bonda. It is a ready batter mix of Bengal gram, peas and rice flour with red chilli and asafoetida.

How do I use it?

Mix the powder with water to a thick, coating batter. Dip sliced vegetables in it and deep-fry in hot oil until golden and crisp. For bonda, make the batter slightly thicker and drop spoonfuls into the oil.

Does it contain artificial colour?

No. The colour comes from red chilli. It contains a little baking soda for crispness, and no preservatives.

What sizes are available?

250 g and 500 g. It keeps for 6 months unopened in a cool, dry place.

How to cook

Add water to an idli-batter consistency — use immediately. Dip slices of onion, raw banana, boiled egg, boiled cauliflower (or anything you fancy) and fry until golden.
